CyberShot W100

Our new Sony CyberShot W100

We finally replaced our old, dead 2 Mpx Olympus D-510 Zoom yesterday.
Here is a quick list of pros and cons:

  • 8 Megapixels
  • fast picture-taking
  • fast picture downloading
  • excellent flash shots
  • 2 GB memory stick
  • can use memory stick in Michael’s PSP
  • records 640×480 30 frames/s movies with sound

  • proprietary battery
  • no support for RAW image format
  • only 16:9 resolution is 1920×1080
  • cable jack is not a standard USB jack
  • movies seem very jerky for 30 frames/s

You can read a posting to Tech Tok about our camera-buying decision with lots and lots of comments.

I'm a long-time Mac and iOS developer. I'm also a big fan of Ruby on Rails and relational databases. I tend to work remotely, in my basement with occasional trips to the office. I'm also a big videophile, both TV and film, and can't wait for a good, inexpensive home 4k solution.
