So I head off at 10:20am EST on Sunday Dec 4th, arriving (after a 44 minute stopover in Phoenix, Arizona) at 3:05pm PST. This time I am staying at the Courtyard by Marriott Fishermans Wharf, which is a lot further away fom work than last time. :-/ But, it’s a lot cheaper, too. Here’s Google’s route from this hotel to OSAF’s offices. |
And I looked around and found transit schedules that might help me get there and back each day. A cab each way every day would be a bit much. I *think* the Route 15 is what I want. I certainly welcome any better ideas, though! That transit map is deeply opaque! Help me Posl-wan, you’re my only hope! I return on Saturday Dec 17, leaving SF at 11:05am PST and arriving (via a 1/2 hr stopover in Philadelphia) in Toronto at 9:24pm EST. |

Dude! You gotta do this for me!
Go to the Exploratorium and buy me a copy of their own poster of the Electromagnetic Spectrum and the one of the Sound Spectrum, they’re both way cool.
Years ago I bought copies of them at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago and mailed them in a mailing tube to myself at my CBC job here in Toronto. When the tube arrived it was open and empty. My science junky heart was broken.
The 15 will get you there, but involves a little walk from your hotel. The 82X is probably faster, if its schedule works for you (it might only run certain hours, not sure). The 10 is closer to your hotel. The F is a streetcar that goes the long way around, but might be fun to ride (some of its cars are real antiques); you can get arrival times for the F from http://www.nextmuni.com
I like subways. What’s wrong with a hotel on top of a subway station?
Well, there is a kinda subway (the BART), but this hotel isn’t on it.
wjr: Yes, the “X” lines are rush-hour lines. Should still work for me though.
So, just for everybody’s information, I took the 10 bus this morning and it was great. 25 minutes from the hotel to work. I was reading Frederick Pohl’s “Gateway”.
Eek, you have a stopover in PHILADELPHIA? Geez, I hope it’s not snowing when you arrive. The Philly airport is notorious for flight delays and cancellations because of snow.
Oh wait, you’re there already. 🙂
Will you mail me a postcard oh please oh please oh please oh please
