Goodbye dot Mac

by ,

I’ve decided to let my dot Mac account lapse.
The only thing I’ve really gotten out of it is bookmark syncing, and that just isn’t worth it.
I’ve also gotten quite a few erroneous pieces of email to ‘’ for people named “Rae”,
so it’s been a bit of a pain as well.

I wonder who will get the much-coveted short dot Mac email address after me?

Reid, software.

About rae

I'm a long-time Mac and iOS developer. I'm also a big fan of Ruby on Rails and relational databases. I tend to work remotely, in my basement with occasional trips to the office. I'm also a big videophile, both TV and film, and can't wait for a good, inexpensive home 4k solution.

I let mine lapse, too. Just wasn’t worth it; I had bought it for the remote backup feature, but this caused me more headache than help.

Good grief! How could you Reid? πŸ™‚

I love .mac! I was using it today to update my iCal calendar from work. Very handy.

I use Retrospect for my main backups across all of my machines but I find .mac’s iSync and Backup 2 to be quick and easy ways to backup/restore my key settings and items.
