I’m using Digg

by ,

I’ve set myself up
a Digg.com account
and am playing with it.
If anyone else is on Digg let me know so I can try adding you to my friends list.

The idea is that you can see what stories your friends think are interesting.
When you look at a story you can click on a button next to it to say you “digg” the story.
This is an asynchronous action (using AJAX tech), so it doesn’t invade the flow of reading the stories.

You can subscribe to your friends’ feeds, and other people’s feeds willy-nilly of course.
If enough people digg a story, it appears on the main page of news for the day.
Users of the site write all the stories, so it’s much less centrally-controlled than even
Slashdot.

the Net.

About rae

I'm a long-time Mac and iOS developer. I'm also a big fan of Ruby on Rails and relational databases. I tend to work remotely, in my basement with occasional trips to the office. I'm also a big videophile, both TV and film, and can't wait for a good, inexpensive home 4k solution.

Yes! And it comes straight from the Anglo-Saxon verbs “wollen” (the verb “to will”)and its opposite “nollen,” which makes it pretty much the oldest slang I know 🙂

    Ain’t etymology fun?
